Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2021 Porsche Macan we're gonna be showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver. Before we do that though, let's take a minute, check this out and make sure it's gonna be right for you. When it comes to putting a hitch on a vehicle like our Porsche, I know the first thing that would come to my mind is the appearance, you know, how's it gonna look And for a fixed style of hitch, honestly I don't think it can really get a whole lot better with this one. Looks like they tried to do a pretty good job of keeping it compact and, you know, completely hidden for the most part. So with this one, you are gonna be able to see the receiver tube opening, but whenever the car's on the ground, you know, it does kind of just protrude right out from the lower portion of our bumper fascia there, so it doesn't look terrible by any means, at least in my opinion. If you're someone who is looking for, you know, a little more of a hidden look, I guess if you will, there's some hitches available, they're called stealth hitches and with those, this portion of the hitch is actually detachable. And so with that one, whenever you're not using it, you can actually pull this part off, and it attaches a little bit lower down, kind of here in this area, so whenever you have this piece off, you're really not gonna be able to tell anything's going on back here, but you know, when you're ready to use it, you simply put it into place and you're good to go. So that's great, you know, for the appearance of it, but kind of the drawback to it is if you're someone who's gonna be using the hitch a lot, it'd probably get annoying having to put it up there and take it down all the time, and probably just end up leaving it in anyway. But that's just gonna depend on how you plan on actually using your hitch. Aside from that, you know, this hitch is gonna be able to handle just about whatever you want to throw at it. So if you're planning on using accessories, pulling a trailer, or even doing both, you'll be in pretty good shape. It is gonna have that 2" by 2" receiver tube opening. Super common size, so a lot of stuff is gonna work with it and I'm kind of a fan on where it's actually gonna sit, you know, it's not too far forward or too far back, which means it's gonna be easy to get to, and a lot of accessories will pair up with it nicely and things of that nature. It is going to use that standard 5/8" pin and clip. One doesn't come with the hitch. If you need one, not a huge deal. I'll just grab it here at etrailer. A lot of times too if you end up buying a new accessory, it will come with one of these. So just something to look out for. Safety chain openings are a little different style, which again I like. They're a little less noticeable from the back of the vehicle since they hang down, but they're gonna be completely out of the way. Give us a lot of room and it allows you to use just about any size hook that our trailer might have on it. The hitch is gonna be compatible with the GTS as well as the non-GTS models like we have here today. And as far as the weight capacities go, this is actually gonna have some pretty high numbers. Maximum gross tongue weight rating's gonna be 750 pounds. That's the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch so that's more than enough for just about any size bike rack or cargo carrier that you'd like to use for example. And as far as the maximum gross trailer weight rating goes, that's gonna be 5,000 pounds. All right, so that's the amount of weight pulling on the hitch, the weight of your trailer, plus anything you might have in or on it. I do always like to recommend though, it's never a bad idea just to grab your vehicle's owner's manual. That way you can check in there and make sure that your SUV can handle that much weight safely. Go ahead and grab a couple of measurements now and these will help us figure out what type of accessories will work best. So from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube, and of course I'm factoring in the height of our lift here which the car's sitting on, that would set it at about 15-1/2" if you we're just parked on normal ground, and at that height, you know, if you plan on pulling a trailer, you'd probably get away most scenarios using a ball mount that has a straight shank or maybe even one with a small rise, 1/2", 1", something l
