Here it is! My first Elektron Digitakt jam. I picked up a like-new original Digitakt for about $450--the pre-owned prices are excellent now that the Digitakt mk II is available. Here I'm doing a sort of electro synthwave-ish jam. I had a lot of fun putting this together and I feel like I got some great sounds both from the Digitakt itself and from two of my trusty mini synths running through the Digitakt's effects. All the drum samples come from the Digitakt, as well as two supplemental basses. I sampled single cycle waveforms from my Minitaur and loaded them onto the Digitakt. When you play them back in loop mode and apply some filter modulation it creates a cool playable monosynth. Here the Minitaur waveforms are used for a secondary dotted bassline and also a bass sweep that plays occasionally. I really had fun getting to grips with the Digitakt and I know I'm just scratching the surface of what I can do. I'm looking forward to using it as a centerpiece for bigger setups. The Pro VS Mini is playing the string pad here, using an incredible sounding patch called Stringer. It comes from the Ultimate Patches Volume 4 library. I don't buy a lot of presets for hardware synths, but the Ultimate Patches library is killer. They're the designers for the new default presets in Pro VS Mini Firmware Version 2, and they really seem to know what they're doing! I feel like this patch sounds amazing and has the perfect amount of modulation built in. Finally, the humble (and awesome) Korg Volca Bass plays the main plucking bassline here. As always, this is one of my favorite synths and a real workhorse in these jams. I think it sounds great with the reverb and delay from the Digitakt. And that's all! Pretty simple setup this time around. I expect I'll use these three devices together plenty of times. I feel like it's a great sounding combo that still sounds full. Thanks for reading!
