Ah, Bloodlines 2. What to say about this game. It's not Bloodlines 1. (One of my favorite games of all time, and my favorite computer RPG ever made.) But, somehow there's a lot for me, specifically, to love here. First time Lasombra has been playable in this kind of real-time action game (stealth and combat). What's more, VTMB2 is primarily a stealth game, it feels like someone made "dietTM Dishonored." It also has touches of Dying Light and Assassin's Creed, namely in its movement and the way you're either traversing the city on rooftops because up there your full speed doesn't attract attention, or trying to blend in and pretend to be human when you're running around on the street, mainly by not casting anything too crazy where the kine can get one too many ideas about what prowls the night. Speaking of the night, this game takes place entirely at night, for obvious reasons. This appeals to me greatly. Night in real life and in games is my favorite time to explore, and exist in. The abilities also feel awesome, and there are creative and powerful ways to use all of them, though I will say Lasombra especially feel VERY strong in this game, we're almost broken/overpowered, every encounter feels like it's designed just so very well for us. The attention to detail in lore and worldbuilding is really good too, as is the sense of atmosphere. I like a few of the characters, though sadly there really aren't many. The story is intriguing so far, and while it's disappointing that you can't create a character from the ground up, my own Phyre feels kind of perfect. It's what I would've made if the game let me make something more specific anyway. I don't know if you'd like Bloodlines 2 if you're a Bloodlines 1 diehard. But if you like Vampire the Masquerade, if you like the World of Darkness, I do think there's something cool here for you. Though, again, it is mainly a stealth game, and best enjoyed as one. If that's a problem for you, I can see this being a frustrating experience. Also, not every Clan's abilities are well-explained in terms of their best uses or more creative applications. But this means there's a good amount of replayability if you want to run different clans/abilities, provided you don't just unlock everything on one -- which you can, theoretically, do. Game fun. I like it. I miss a fair few things from Bloodlines 1, and I'm a little sad that magic will likely never be recaptured. But so far, I'm really enjoying this game.
