Stoke patients commonly ask how long it will take to regain function and strength following a stroke. While it depends largely on the extent of damage caused by the stroke initially, Mark Tornero, MD, a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, says it typically takes weeks to months.
