On Thursday, September 15, the College oval transformed into a Festival hotspot, with friends and family gathering to celebrate The Arts and Technologies together. Food trucks, fairy lights, stilt walkers and face-painting tents were all set up around our main stage marquee. We watched performances from Senior School Drama classes, cheered along with our K-Pop and Lakeside dancers, and enjoyed the specialist Dance group presenting the choreography they’ve been working on with Emma from The Dance Collective in their finale item. Music ensembles showcased performers from Years 7-12 and had the audience dancing and clapping along. Our massive Primary Choir sang two items before our Vocal Ensemble performed for the first time. In the Learning Hub, we exhibited artworks from Secondary and Primary Visual Arts, with work from Kindy students right through to our Year 12 ATAR students. Visitors were encouraged to take a selfie in front of our collaborative mural - every student in the Primary School created a feather which was then put together as beautiful wings. Our Textiles, Woodwork and Language students exhibited their creations in the breakout room next door. Dresses, lamps, dressing gowns, and from the Senior Woodwork students' chairs and specifically made items and toys for our College Kindergarten areas were some of the items on display. Our Hospitality students prepared delicious brownies and other treats to sell in their Culinary Arts tent. We were so pleased to see so many friends, ex-students and families in attendance, including the Mayor and our local member, Terry Healy. Even though the weather was a little chilly, it was wonderful to watch everyone enjoying each other’s company amongst all the talent on display. A huge thank you must go to our Arts and Technologies teachers, who have worked tirelessly to prepare students for this event, despite all the Covid interruptions this year. We wouldn’t have the excellent standard of work that we do without their inspiration and commitment. We take our hats off to you - Ms Britza, Mrs Keshwar, Mr Strong, Mrs Turner, Mrs Ndlovu, Mrs Fernandez, Mr Balding, Mrs Aitken & Mrs Steyn. Thanks also to Mrs Rossi and Mr Fourie for their efforts too, along with our EAs and Technicians. We hope you enjoyed our Arts Festival 2022!
