Bun Bo Hue is the best soup in the world! Today I want to show you a different side to Saigon aka Ho Chi Minh City. I’m in the expat filled, quiet, leafy suburb of Thao Dien in Saigon’s District 2 to see if I can find some authentic Vietnamese street food among the many western and Japanese restaurants on offer here. I’m pleased to say that I found an amazing Hoi An style banh mi filled with pate, roasted char sui pork and loads of fresh herbs. You know how much I love searching for the best banh mi so I have to grab one when I see one! Price: 20,000 VND At the end of the same street I found an incredibly friendly Auntie selling my favourite Vietnamese soup - Bun Bo Hue. What makes this version special for me is the use of navel end brisket which has the most amazing flavour and texture. Price: 40,000 VND I was so pleased to be able to find such great local food amongst all the upmarket cafes and restaurants.
