By co-creating knowledge and ensuring findings are both relevant and practical, the VIMAS project aims to make science not only speak to policy—but work with policy. Outdoor recreation is more than just hiking or camping. It’s about connecting with nature, supporting health and well-being, and fostering appreciation for clean air, water, and landscapes. Yet, while research on outdoor recreation produces valuable insights every day, much of this knowledge remains locked in academic journals, far from the decision-makers who shape policies and practices. The VIMAS project explores how to bridge the gap between science and practice. Filmed during our training school in Finland, the video features an interview with Maria Jaakola from the City of Helsinki, highlighting the importance of dialogue between researchers and practitioners. -------------------------------------------------------------- Narrated by Ina Hildeman.
