Basic level spear and shield technique, beginning with overhand strike grip, and after successful contact (by combatant on the right) changing to underhand thrust grip for second round. Grade 3 Level 1 is the first introductory level of the FYRD COMBAT SYSTEM. It can be passed with various weapon combinations, however spear and shield is the first combination as this then translates to being useful either in Western Style Reenactment Show Fighting, and/or forms the basis for progressing into Choreographed spear and shield work for ICSC performance.
