Bumpass Hell is a very active geothermal area in Lassen Volcanic National Park! It’s otherworldly being there. The colors are stunning and the views of the steam vents and boiling mud pits are unforgettable. The main Bumpass Hell trail is near the southern entrance of the park by the Visitor’s Center but it was closed when we went in early July because it was still covered in snow. Thankfully, there’s another way to get there! In this video we park at the King’s Creek picnic area and take the trail past Cold Boiling Lake to Bumpass Hell. The hike is about 5 1/2 miles round trip and has around 1,000 feet of elevation gain. This hike might just be my favorite in the entire park. Thank you for watching and please leave a comment if you have any questions!
