At the meeting of two rivers, they built a rare northern pyramid complex to honor Igsumaq, the fire-bird sun spirit whose radiant warmth sustained life through the long tundra winters and allowed the Piqmuit to cultivate crops alongside hunting. Two smaller pyramids mark the domains of her children, the moon spirits Qilaut and Anuam, representing celebration, death, and the cycles of life.
