The utilization of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in endodontics has increased dramatically in recent years, proving especially vital in aiding diagnosis and treatment planning of complex cases, including cases with traumatic injury. In fact, most clinicians today agree that it is advantageous and, in some instances, essential to take a CBCT scan before any endodontic surgery and conservative retreatment. Join Dr. Samuel Kratchman, a practicing endodontist, associate professor and assistant director of graduate endodontics in charge of microsurgery at the University of Pennsylvania, as he reviews the importance of CBCT imaging in endodontics. He will discuss how a CBCT scan can serve as a clinician’s “GPS” — helping lead the way to improved diagnostics, treatment planning confidence and case acceptance. Other learning objectives will include: • Understanding the wealth of information CBCT technology provides in complex cases and in cases where traumatic injury can dictate different treatment options • Preparing for surgical cases that may involve vulnerable structures, such as the sinus cavities, mental foramen or greater palatine artery/nerve bundle • Case studies illustrating noteworthy findings on CBCT images Rely on Us.
