It just didn't sit right with me that the 27" wheels I'd bought for the Invader didn't quite fit. It didn't look how I wanted it to. It needed a makeover. The original advert for the bike says it should come with 26" x 1 1/4" rims but they're quite difficult to come by in good condition and it limits you to black tyres and very few of those! I was fortunate enough to find a good donor bike with some stainless 26" x 1 3/8" rims which allowed me to fit some gorgeous cream tyres once the rear wheel had been rebuilt. I think the cream makes the red pop a bit more! Then it was just a case of getting the "new" pedals fitted (which I think have been stripped and rebuilt by the seller... but rebuilt with the cages on the wrong sides), the new brakes fitted and finishing it off with a nice new Brooks saddle and some period accessories. Not a bad looking bike now!
