Umm Ali is also called as Oumm Ali or Om Ali. It means "Ali's Mother". This is a traditional Egyptian dessert, and is a nation dessert of Egypt. There are numerous variations with different composition. The name Om Ali or Umm Ali is literally translated into the mother of Ali and it is traced back to Egypt's Ayyubid era. It is named after the wife of the ruler of the empire in Egypt who asked her cooks to come up with the most delicious dessert they could create and distribute through out the country. The chosen recipe became the national dish of Egypt. Ingrediants: Milk 1 L Sugar 1 cup Corn Flour 4 tsp with 1 cup Milk (solution) Condensed Milk 200ml Cinnamon powder 1 tsp Bread 12 slices Oil or Ghee (for frying) For sugar syrup: Water 1.5 cups Sugar 1 cup Saffron 1/4 tsp For garnishing: Desiccated Coconut 1/2 cup Pistachio 1/4 cup Almonds 1/4 cup Cashew nuts 1/4 cup Raisins 1/4 cup music credit: www.bensound.com
