Pachelbel Toccata in E Minor (POP 281)

Another Toccata . this time in E-Minor, by the great Johann Pachelbel (c.09/01/1653 - 03/9/1706), one of the most important influences upon J. S.Bach's musical development. Pachelbel was definitely a great musician, and not one of a single composition ("the "Canon"), instead. He displayed a superb gift of melody. Technically, just as Bach came to invent the "Orgelbüchlein-type" chorale prelude (a genre Peter Williams considers to be elusive), Pachelbel invented another type of chorale prelude, begining with a fugue, often quite developed, then followed by "figurae", "e. g.", "Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder" and "Wenn mein Stündlein vorhanden ist".
