This is the very end of the line for the Sprinter train at the Escondido transit center. It can not go any further than this and that is also why there is a red light on the ground that I filmed. It stays red nearly the entire time and it's in sync with the crossing signals you see in the video further down the tracks. While the red light stays on, the crossing signals know to stay off because the Sprinter train can't cross through there. Also if you look very closely at the tracks further down, the left side is not aligned with the tracks and that is intentional when sprinter trains are running. If a sprinter train were to ever go down those tracks which they can't do, they would of derailed where those tracks open up. There is another thing it does besides stay red though. When the Sprinter trains are done for the night, some nights the freight trains take over on this track and if there is one coming from Oceanside, the red light starts to flash on and off which is a sign that a freight train is on it's way here. For train fans wanting to get freights here, that is exciting to look at, but it takes patience because the moment the light starts flashing, it will take another 40 minutes or so for the train to get here because it's traveling 21 miles from Oceanside to here at the Escondido transit center. I do not have a video of it flashing though. Other times, it doesn't start flashing until the freight train is already here. If you're also wondering why this is a single red light while all the other signals have a red, yellow, and green, again, it's because this is the very last train signal going this direction and after that, there are no more train signals and the tracks end a few hundred yards down. There is one train signal further down the tracks between those two railroad crossings and it's for freight trains coming back this direction, that signal stays red for several days and nights too. If you look very closely, you see a black signal planted on the ground down the tracks. Besides the red light, another cool thing to know that a freight train is coming is when the yellow platforms that people walk on to get on the Sprinter rise up to make more room for the freight train to pass by and I do have a video of that in a link below. Here are my two videos on different nights of freight trains coming down this track. • Rare #bnsf Warbonnet Locomotives At Escond... • #escondido Freight Train Arrives In Escond... Finally, since this was the final Sprinter train video, I thought I would show you what it looked like inside the train for a brief moment and how the doors close. It's very cozy in there and the warm fluorescent lighting inside gives it a relaxing feel. Here is my video of the yellow platforms rising late at night ahead of the incoming freight train. • Pedestrian Platforms Rising For Incoming #... Also here is my video of the final railroad crossing signals for the sprinter train in this station. • Last #railroadcrossing On The Sprinter Lin... Finally since this was the very last sprinter train signal, here is my video 21 miles west of here of the very first sprinter train signal at the Oceanside transit center. • Very First Sprinter Train Signals At Ocean...
