I wrote this tune in memory of my lovely cousin Bridget who sadly passed away shortly after I arrived back in Tasmania in March 2025. For many, many years after first meeting her we remained good friends and she became very fond of Caroline and also her and Jen’s mother, Doris back in the day. Bridget was a huge support to me following Caroline’s loss and I spent many happy hours with her most noticeably Christmas 2023. I always wanted to write a tune in her honour but never got around to doing it, with all that was going on in my life. I decided to enter it the 2025 Tasmanian Folk Federation Song and Tune competition, never think it would win the prize for tune writing. I was very surprised as although the tune had great meaning for me I did not expect it to win. Huge thanks to my lovely friends in the UK and Scotland, Maurice Condie, Marina Dodgson, Mairi Leech and of course Malcolm for being a part in it; and of course Bridget for her part in my life and for being there for me at the hardest of times. Of course it is also for Bridget’s family, David, Alex, Liam and Cat.
