Did you know that early beta versions of Windows 95 had somewhat of a Windows 3.1 "emulator" built-in? Well, not exactly an emulator, but a handful of files, that allowed Windows 3.1 to run inside a Windows 95 DOS Box. Nah, not MS-DOS mode, but side-by-side with Windows 95! Getting it to work on a beta version was easy, but doing so for the final Windows 95 release, lest to say Windows 98, needed some patching. And yet, there are questions around the whole thing: Why did Microsoft built that feature in the first place? Why was it dropped from the final release?
