Here's Phoeba Parsons of Calhoun County, WV playing some tunes in the "Lonesome Key." She lived in a remote place on "the waters of Bear Fork" as she put it. I recorded this in 1989 when I went up to her place to learn some of her old tunes and tunings. I especially wanted to learn her "Cabin Creek," which took her a while to recall both the tune and tuning, but I managed to get it. While there, she tuned up (down) in the "lonesome key" and played "John Henry," "Pretty Polly," then tuned again and played "The Boston Burglar."
