ZIMBABWE NATIONAL STUDENTS UNION (ZINASU) 6 Bates Rd, Milton Park Harare, Zimbabwe CALL: +263 713340223 11 November 2025 *ZINASU CONDEMNS THE OUTRAGEOUS ABDUCTION OF LINDON ZANGA AND MALVIN MANDANDA YESTERDAY* Yesterday at exactly 2250hrs, two Zimbabwe National Students Union students, Lindon Zanga and Malvin Mudanda, were abducted at Mzimba Shopping Centre in Chinhoyi. The suspected vehicle is an Isuzu that was used on Sunday, 9 November 2025, and was also used to distribute materials on behalf of ZICOSU as part of an election campaign. This follows an imminent Student Representative Council election, scheduled for tomorrow, November 12, 2025. One of the abducted students, a 23-year-old student, Lindon Zanga, is a candidate in the coming SRC election vying for the Minister for Information and Publicity position. This comes as a panic reaction from both the opposing student union ZICOSU, which is directly sponsored by the oppressive ruling regime ZANU PF, and a strong indication of attempts to silence the students' voice. It's another reality that students have ceased to be seen as beacons of academic excellence, but in the eyes of a jittery regime, they are terrorists that seek to defy an oppressive agenda. When students' rights matter, the government has looked the other way. This is an action that should be condemned as outrageous, archaic and anathema to progressive democracy. Campuses should be safe havens where students seek accountability, defy oppression, and call for academic freedom.
