This is a slow TV video of a 7.5 km (5 mile) walk along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, on the English south coast. It shares the ambient sounds and landscape of the seaside and cliffs of Dorset, and the Jurassic and Cretaceous geology of the area. By walking from the relative seclusion of Ringstead Bay along the beaches and cliffs of Dorset we can take in both the extraordinary geology and breathtaking landscapes of the area before arriving at the drama and hurly-burly of Durdle Door. A return walk along a slightly more inland route would give a total walk of around 13km (8.5 miles). The video was filmed on 23rd April 2021, in sunny but distinctly fresh spring weather. For more detailed information on the geology of Ringstead Bay, Bat's Head and Durdle Door, the webpages by Dr Ian West, have been invaluable for preparing this video and would be well worth a visit.
