We're back with a fresh fifty titles from the Virgin Top 1,000 album list. This week we've got numbers 150-101! We're getting closer and closer to the end of this list, and hopefully your recognition skills are improving. Lots of great records in this batch, though there are a few that are surprising in their placement. #102 provided the music for one of the greatest horror films of all time, but does it warrant placement this high? Especially when there are no film scores anywhere on the list? #149 deserves better, even though I'm not sure it's LC's best album (not ashamed to admit that I really, really like The Future") #108 is just...surprising to me. There hasn't been a whole lot of that particular music represented on this list, so to have that one pop up so high was shocking. But then I looked at the track list and...yeah, it's a solid 80s hair metal banger. Each week I have to have at least one or two singling out my weaksauce photoshop skills, and the winners there are definitely #115 and #107. There just wasn't a whole lot I could do. I briefly considered just having #107 be a pure black cover, with the expectation that you could get it if you knew the release year. But then I figured that was just being rude. I will take some credit for #140, however, and there's a fun story there. Apparently for their debut album that band chose to pretty much deface a pre-existing album's cover. They found a copy of Ferrante and Teicher's "Keyboard Kapers" and just threw their info over it. So for the Photoshopped version, I just found an image of the original and removed the original title. Shockingly, I own like 40 Ferrante and Teicher records, but not the one they used... As a quick reminder, this list was compiled by Colin Larkin. Mr, Larkin's list was created by polling over 200,000 people and was published by Virgin Books in 2000. So while it's not intended to be "the best albums of the twentieth century," it kind of became that based on when it was released. We'll be doing new videos each week in this series, and I hope y'all enjoy them. And y'know, maybe check out some of the titles if you're unfamiliar with them. Don't be like your parents, thumbing your nose at any music that was released after 1972. #triviatime #albumcovers #albumcoverchallenge #album #musictrivia #VinylVibes #RockNRollTrivia #NoTextChallenge #ClassicAlbums #vinyl #vinylrecords #records #musicquiz
