Natan Alterman - Morning Song

This is a song that i had in my collection, but after hearing my grandmother sing it, i felt it neccesary to upload it. Early Israel was a harsh and unforgiving place. Many lands were costly, uninhabitable and dangerous. Swamps full of malaria, unstable gravel patches and uninhabitable deserts. The early Zionists of the first and second Alyah put a great emphasis on the redemption of the land of Israel, some as part of a soicalist agenda of creating a strong agrarian labour culture out of what they percieved as the redemption of the Jews themselves. Natan Alterman is perhaps one of the most important Zionist poets of all time, and in his writings he often tried to capture the spirit of a new, redeemed Israel.
