ARLIS Cat & Class ethics series: British Library Race Equality Action Plan, 13 May 2022

This presentation is an overview of work underway to deliver the cataloguing and metadata actions published in the British Library’s Race Equality Action Plan.   The presentation will review the recommendations made by the Anti-Racism Project’s Cataloguing & Metadata Subgroup: to review the language used in metadata descriptions; to address inappropriate and outdated terminology; to improve access to under-described or undiscoverable collections; to embed ethical principles throughout our workflows through training and best practice guidance.
