Yeshiva Shalom Rav - Mekarev Shull in Tsfat Crowdfunding Campaign March 17-19, 2024 https://www.charidy.com/closer “60m2 of space, but room for thousands.” — Rabbi Avshi If there’s room in the soul, there’s room in the shul. Since 1992, that’s held true at Yeshiva Shalom Rav, embedded in the Mekarev shul in the heart of the Old City of Tzfas. This inspiring enclave of Chassidus and kiruv was built 160+ years ago by Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchok of Mekarev, a grandson of Rav Mordechai of Chernobyl. It was never made physically larger, but its gravitational force and magical ability to host and transform thousands never stopped. From those connected to their spiritual gift — to those whose Yiddishkeit feels lost: Mekarev and Shalom Rav are a blazing fire that warms anyone who comes near. And come they do. In the thousands, from all corners of the world, and from all walks of life. With or without a head covering. With or without a prior connection to our rabbanim. With or without knowing what pulls them to Mekarev. The Need Our doors won’t close, for anyone. Our windows may be cracked, but our vision is crystal clear. Our pipes might be leaking, but our Yeshiva is a fountain of life. Our doors might not close, but we never try to keep anyone out anyway. Our doors are open to everyone, and all feel comfortable here. Students from yeshivas and seminaries, visitors from all over the world, and Israeli soldiers throng to Kaballas Shabbos every Friday night. There’s standing room only outside Mekarve for the hundreds who gather on Lag B’Omer, Shabbos Chanukah, and summer break. Our plans include renovating the shul to create more usable space, bringing the kitchen up to capacity, securing our adjacent dormitory facilities, and creating a new office and all-purpose room for classes and simchas in the ancient ruin downstairs. The Big Idea Bring us closer to inspiring people far and wide. After years of renting our dorms, it is now up for sale. This is a four-story building, steps away from the Mekarev shul. It’s old and run-down but it’s full of potential — just waiting to become a proper home; a home that can nurture and support our boys during this precarious, yet promising, time of their lives. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With Hashem’s help, and yours, we will secure this property! We managed to borrow the down payment, but need to raise the remainder. Now begins the journey of raising gashmius’dik funds to secure this place for ruchniyus. With your help, we will secure this vessel in Tzfas. Let’s bring together 2 million dollars. That’s less than 100 dollars per life we changed over the years. And the more lives we inspire, the greater the return on your investment—and the greater the return of Jewish neshamas closer to Hashem.
