The ecology of wild capuchins - Stone tool use - Infant care and social behavior. The bearded capuchin monkeys of Fazenda Boa Vista is a scientific documentary on the behavior of wild bearded capuchin monkeys living in the dry forest habitat of Fazenda Boa Vista (Gilbués, Piauí State, Brazil). It is based on the research carried out on this site since 2005 by an international team led by senior researchers from Brazil, United States and Italy (see Ethocebus). The goals of the documentary are (1) to present to a large audience the discoveries made by the researchers of the EthoCebus project on two groups of wild bearded capuchin monkeys and (2) to provide rigorous/scientific interpretations of their behavior. We aimed to combine beautiful images with a scientific and rigorous interpretation. The documentary provides an overview of the ecology and behavior of this population. The documentary is divided into these parts: The ecology of wild capuchins, Stone tool use, Infant care and social behavior, Feeding and foraging activities, Becoming proficient foragers, Field experiments on tool use (on the innovative research done to investigate stone tool use), The community of Fazenda Boa Vista: humans and environment (with special attention given to the threat to the Fazenda Boa Vista posed by deforestation and intensive agriculture), Early days (showing the beginning of the EthoCebus project between 2003 and 2006). The bearded capuchin monkeys of Fazenda Boa Vista, a documentary by Elisabetta Visalberghi and Alessandro Albani (ISTC-CNR, Rome, Italy). Written by Elisabetta Visalberghi.
