Our journey continued at the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway, where we had hoped to film steam but instead found a diesel in charge due to the hot weather. From there we left Wales behind, saying goodbye to the narrow-gauge lines and heading for the Severn Valley Railway. Here the entire line had just reopened for the first time this year, celebrated with a very special guest — the world-famous Flying Scotsman. We stayed for two days to film, including the Severn Valley’s “Swinging Sixties” event. Even though most services were handled by diesels because of the heat, seeing the Flying Scotsman in person was an unforgettable highlight. The Heritage Railway Roadtrip has begun.
