Bolków, a charming town in Lower Silesia, region in Poland. The city was founded in 1265. It received city rights in 1276. The castle in Bolków overlooks the city. The first written source of the castle dates back to 1277. The townspeople of Wrocław and Świdnica took the castle with force and hanged Jan of Czarna in 1468, the knight in charge of the castle, punishing him for his numerous robberies. The castle was besieged during the Thirty Years' War in 1640. The castle was occupied by the Swedish army in 1646. The castle and the town were sold to the Cistercians in 1703. Since then, the castle has remained uninhabited. The castle becomes the property of the Prussian treasury after secularization in 1810. Then the building began to fall into disrepair. In 1813, after the Napoleonic Wars, Russian soldiers stayed in the castle. They dug a hole at the base of the tower looking for legendary gold. Part of the action of the historical novel "Rhapsody Świdnica" by Polish author Władysław J. Grabski, from about the times of prince Bolko II, takes place in the castle. The castle appears in episodes 10 and 11 of The Witcher series. The castle also appeared in the movie about The Witcher. #castle #cityview #tourism #castle #poland #drone #4k
