http://www.coolhand-records.com/surfin-nug... Tico And The Triumphs – Motorcycle / I Don't Believe Them (7: Madison Records M169) Oct 1961 (7: Amy 835) Nov 1961 Written by Jerry Landis. Tico and the Triumphs were a group Paul Simon and several of his friends formed in Queens, NY. Original members included Mickey Borack, Paul Simon (who kept his stage name of Jerry Landis), Marty Cooper (Later Shacklefords / The Inconceivables) Howie Beck, and Gail Lynn, who didn't continue with the group when they started recording. Their greatest success came with the release of "Motorcycle" which peaked at #99 on the US Billboard Singles chart on January 6, 1962. Amy 835 - January 20, 1962; Chicago WLS #36 (#99 Billboard) Cashbox - Nov 11th 1961 edition: NEW YORK—Amy Records has just secured the rights to a master, “Motorcycle” by Tico & The Triumphs, from indie producer Jerry Landis, according to Jack Fine, the label’s sales and promotion manager. Billboard (Local Singles Breakouts, 27 Nov 1961) reported Amy 835 as "getting strong sales action" in Milwaukee, so, presumably, the Dec 1961 release date should be pushed back to Nov.
