Parallel Laceration Repair

Together with Experience Anatomy cadaver lab in Charlotte, NC, I will be bringing you high quality laceration repairs utilizing cadaveric specimens. This video goes through a difficult repair, parallel lacerations that you may encounter in a patient that has self-inflicted wounds. You may also see this when the patient punches a window, gets caught in razor wire, etc... The key points here are to NOT put multiple sutures in the small tissue islands between the lacerations, as this may strangulate the tissue. This requires a modified or extended horizontal mattress suture, where you feed the needle and suture through the dermal layer of each tissue island. These come together nicely, just takes practice!
