The AIs are deliberately separated by "Turing locks" to prevent them from becoming too powerful. Case's role is to penetrate these digital defenses in cyberspace, while Molly and Riviera handle the physical infiltration of Villa Straylight. The narrative is a complex web of corporate espionage, high-stakes hacking, betrayals, and philosophical explorations of artificial intelligence, humanity, and the nature of reality. Ultimately, Case and Molly succeed in their mission, allowing Wintermute and Neuromancer to merge, creating a transcendent super-intelligence that fundamentally alters the landscape of cyberspace.
