The “Big Boy” UP 4014 steam train made a public display stop in Rochelle, IL, during its Heartland of America Tour, on September 8, 2024. The Heartland of America Tour was the second major tour for the “Big Boy” in 2024, with the first tour being the Westward Bound Tour. The Heartland of America Tour started in Cheyenne, Wyoming on August 28, 2024. The “Big Boy” UP 4014 steam train will then travel through nine additional states, and conclude this tour in late October. During this eight-week tour, there will only be three public display stops where people can get all day to view this historic train. This stop in Rochelle, Illinois was a rare and special event for sure. The “Big Boy” 4014 is the largest and most powerful fully operational steam locomotive in the world today.
