Enjoy this the 7th meeting of the current book club. This week we discussed two short texts, the first is a piece by architect Peggy Dreamer called “Marx, BIM and Contemporary Labour”, the second is an interview with the author about Architectural Workers. These two texts can be found at the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VKb6... The next meeting of the book club will not take place until Friday April 9th at 5pm as we will be observing Easter weekend as a break. There are two texts that have been suggested for discussion, the first is a piece by Lucius Burckhardt called Aesthetics and Ecology, followed by a piece about Burckhardt offering an overview about his work. From Friday, March26th onwards, We will meet on zoom at 5pm at a new link here: ucd-ie.zoom.us/j/97120795244 CURRENT Socials Instagram: / current_ire. . Twitter: / current_ireland Current is a project originating in UCD and involving architecture schools across Ireland. This regular ‘zoomcast’ will present features on what the faculty, staff and students are up to – in projects, in practice and in research – and on what is current. We will ask invited guests to share their enthusiasms – favorite books, pictures, places visited – and will explore themes and issues relevant to contemporary architecture. As long as we cannot all be in the same place at the same time, Current is intended to provide ‘a shared stream of thought’ through which the culture of architectural education can be sustained. Between us, the schools will produce a number of programs each week, typically running from 1-2pm. All are welcome to join, ask questions, and become part of the conversation.
