The yield on the 10-Year Treasury has doubled since August with a big spike the first week of 2021. Higher inflation expectations is the main reason for the rise in US bond yields. In addition, the US Dollar has been in an uptrend since 2011 which has been broken over the past few weeks. A declining US Dollar adds to inflation because the goods we import become more expensive. #ustreasury #usdollar #inflation #deflation #thorwealth #wealthmanagement #financialplanning ------------------------------------------------- 00:00 - Intro 00:16 - Chart of recent rise in the 10 Yr US Treasury Rate 00:43 - Chart of recent move in forward inflation rate expectations 01:26 - US Dollar breaking below long term trend line 02:17 - Conclusion ------------------------------------------------- ▬ About THOR Wealth Management ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ THOR Wealth Management is a registered investment advisor based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The rate at which purchasing power drops can be reflected in the average price increase of a basket of selected goods and services over some period of time. The rise in prices, which is often expressed as a percentage, means that a unit of currency effectively buys less than it did in prior periods. Inflation can be contrasted with deflation, which occurs when prices decline and purchasing power increases. The Coinage Act of 1792 introduced the U.S. dollar at par with the Spanish silver dollar, divided it into 100 cents, and authorized the minting of coins denominated in dollars and cents. U.S. banknotes are issued in the form of Federal Reserve Notes, popularly called greenbacks due to their predominantly green color.
