I produced this animated video to promote Cool-n-Save in 2009. This video was fun work, and while I have long since absolved myself of any involvement in the company, I still believe in it. Here's why: Cool-n-Save is pioneering AC misting technology as evidenced by the patented (US 8,074,461 B2, filed Dec 13, 2011). This simple invention is designed to significantly reduce the energy costs of air conditioning. By creating a fine mist around your air conditioner's condenser unit, Cool-n-Save lowers the surrounding air temperature through evaporative cooling, enhancing the efficiency of your AC system and reducing energy consumption by up to 30% with AC misting! This technology not only cuts down on your electricity bills but also extends the lifespan of your air conditioning unit. The installation process for Cool-n-Save is quick and straightforward, typically taking just a few minutes. The system connects to your outdoor faucet and operates automatically whenever your AC is running. This is particularly beneficial during hot summer months when air conditioners are under the most stress. By pre-cooling the air before it reaches the condenser, Cool-n-Save reduces the workload on your AC unit, ensuring it runs more efficiently and lasts longer. In June 2011, Greenway Design Group, Inc. (then owner of Cool-n-Save) won the Tech America/Harvey Mudd Green Engineering award for its work on Cool-n-Save's energy-saving technology. Adrian Hightower, assistant professor of engineering at Harvey Mudd College, commented on Cool-n-Save's innovative approach to energy conservation. The product won this prestigious award over other notable contenders, including Fisker Automotive. DETAIL: AC Misting employs flash evaporation to pre-cool air and reduces HVAC energy consumption by reducing the ambient temperature around the condenser coils, thereby decreasing the number of times the compressor has to cycle up. The side benefit is that it also decreases wear and tear on equipment and often earns back the installation cost in months, not years. Although this product works great on residential AC units, the company tried it on commercial ones, and it was too small. You need a much larger system, which increased cost and, to be honest, was a headache to manage (for example, water purification).
