For good reasons, magnetic bubble memory was short lived and many people are not aware that it even existed. However, it remains a very interesting topic and there are some unique concepts involved in these devices. This is the first video in a short series that discusses the basic concepts involved in bubble memory. This video covers the basics of a 2-dimensional magnetic plane and the domains that form the magnetic bubbles that we use as data bits. I also discuss, and hopefully explain, why bubble memory is so stable to data loss and is inherently stable.
