Tonights paper was written by C. Gordon Bell, VP of engineering a digital equipment corporation. Published five years after the introduction of DEC’s PDP-11 series, of which Bell was one of the designers, the 1975 paper “What have we learnt from the PDP-11” sought to reflect on the success of the PDP-11 and evaluate it against the original design goals that Bell and his co designers laid down in 1969.
