Warlord Games- What can we do with a box of Ceorls?

As my wife gets sucked in deeper and deeper into history by watching Vikings, I find myself picking up boxes of models that would be perfect to recreate some of the battles we've watched. I happened upon this box at a Black Friday sale and couldn't resist. I hadn't realized they were actually the old Wargames Factory sculpts either! Sold! I always thought the Wargames Factory kits were ambitious attempts to make multipart models with a variety of options, but they never seemed to have decent poses. I figured with 30 models in a box, I'd have plenty to tinker and experiment with... and I did. First thing that's great about these guys is that they're quite plain. Why is that great? They're almost like a blank canvas in terms of what you can do with them. Sure, they're Saxon Ceorls, like it says on the box, but why stop there? If you've got the parts they can be whatever you want them to be! The leftover peasant parts I had from the Fireforge kit worked great with these, and I started seeing what I could use from my Frostgrave bits. The next challenge will be to see if I can grimdark them up- maybe turn them into makeshift guard or at the very least chaos cultists (preferably with some Frostgrave heads). Another nice thing is the weapon variety included. A few axes, plenty of swords and spears, and bows to make archers as well. I'm not a huge fan of the design of the arms for this kit, but again, if you have other similarly sized figures, that's easily remedied. I think I'm going to need some Vikings now to harass them, along with some Huskarls to lead them...
