Part 5 – “Daniel 12 … Is A Warning That We Shall All Need To Understand Before The Time Of The End.”

The following 7 questions will be answered in this Series: 1. “A great terror is soon to come upon human beings. The end is very near. We who know the truth should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise.” –Letter 141, 1902. What is this great terror? 2. Why do we believe, as a church, that the “prophetic periods” of Daniel 12 were fulfilled in 1843/1844? There are 2 events that must take place before the “prophetic periods” of Daniel 12 can be fulfilled! a. “And at that time shall Michael stand up … and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation.” –Daniel 12:1. b. “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.” –Daniel 12:11, 12. 3. For 181 years Seventh-day Adventists have focused on the Mark of the Beast as being the great test for the people of God before probation closes. a. “The Lord has shown me clearly that the image of the beast will be formed before probation closes; for it is to be the great test for the people of God, by which their eternal destiny will be decided. … This is the test that the people of God must have before they are sealed.” –Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, Vol. 7, p. 976 (Letter 11, 1890) b. “But in the very act of enforcing a religious duty by secular power, the churches would themselves form an image to the beast; hence the enforcement of Sundaykeeping in the United States would be an enforcement of the worship of the beast and his image.” –The Great Controversy, 448.3. 4. John was told to “seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.” But why was he told, “Thou must prophesy again” (Revelation 10:11)? a. “The special light given to John which was expressed in the seven thunders was a delineation of events which would transpire under the first and second angels’ messages. It was not best for the people to know these things, for their faith must necessarily be tested. In the order of God most wonderful and advanced truths would be proclaimed. The first and second angels' messages were to be proclaimed, but no further light was to be revealed before these messages had done their specific work.” –Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, Volume 7, page 971 (Manuscript 59, 1900.) 5. Why do we believe that the battle between the Ram and the He Goat of Daniel 8 (Daniel 8:1-13) was fulfilled at the Battle of Arbela in 331 BC? Why do we apply the “final fulfillment” of Daniel 8:14: “Then shall the sanctuary be cleansed,” to 1844? a. “19 Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. 20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia” –Daniel 8:19, 20. b. Were 331 BC or A.D. 1844 the “last end of the indignation?” Was the sanctuary “cleansed” in 1844 or did the cleansing “commence” at that time? 6. Why do we believe that probation closes during the intercession of Jesus in the most holy place? Why do we believe that the censer is cast into the earth from the most holy place? a. “18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it. … 19 and cleanse it, and hallow it. … 20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat: 21 and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel.” –Leviticus 16:18-21. b. “Then I saw Jesus, who had been ministering before the ark containing the ten commandments, throw down the censer. He raised His hands, and with a loud voice said, ‘It is done’ … ‘He that is unjust, let him be unjust still.’ ” –Early Writings, 279.2. c. “God commanded that an atonement be made for each of the sacred apartments.” –Patriarchs and Prophets, 355.1. 7. Why did Habakkuk prophesy: “O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make known; In wrath remember mercy.” –Habakkuk 3:2. a. “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease” –Daniel 9:27. b. “ ‘In the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.’ Daniel 9:27. In the spring of A.D. 31, Christ the true sacrifice was offered on Calvary . . . . The one week—seven years—ended in A.D. 34.” –The Desire of Ages, 233. c. 2026 is a very suspicious year, because in God’s sacred calendar, the 8-day Passover Feast in 2026, is the “midst of the week” of the 7-year Sabbatical cycle, terminating at the end of the Sabbatical year in 2029!
