Tatiana Schlossberg died on December 30, 2025, at the age of 35, after 18 months of treatment for acute myeloid leukemia. She died while her two children were still too young to understand what “losing a mother” meant: Edwin was only three years old, and Josephine was not yet two. She was the granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, a journalist who had written for The New York Times, and the author of Inconspicuous Consumption. But all of those titles became meaningless on the morning her family announced on the JFK Library’s page: “Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning.” The funeral was held on January 5, 2026, at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in New York. The person standing in the front row was not a powerful member of the Kennedy dynasty, but George Moran, 36 years old, her husband, a doctor who had lost his wife and become a single father overnight. He carried his young son into the church in a dark suit. He did not cry. He did not stop. When it was his turn to speak, George did not talk about death. He talked about the life Tatiana never got to finish living. And in that moment, the funeral became one of the most devastating scenes ever recorded in the history of the Kennedy family.
