TAIWAN'S ANIME TOWNS - I visited Jioufen, Pingxi, Shifen & Beitou

In today's vlog, I’ll take you to Taiwan’s countryside where we’ll explore the historic towns of Jioufen, Pingxi, and Shifen, as well as the famous hot spring resort town of Beitou together. I will start my trip in Taipei City, from where we will take a public bus to the ancient town of Jioufen, often rumored to have inspired the iconic anime Spirited Away. As I walked the old streets of Jioufen, lined with hundreds of traditional lanterns, it felt as though I was stepping through a scene from the movie. (However, Hayao Miyazaki, the creator of Spirited Away, has stated that he was not aware of Jioufen.) But there's so much more to Taiwan's countryside. Using public buses and quaint local trains, I ventured further to explore the ancient towns of Pingxi and Shifen, both famous for their traditional lantern releases. After experiencing these age-old traditions, my journey took me to Beitou, Taiwan's most renowned hot spring resort town. The numerous natural hot springs, rich in sulfur and reputed for their healing properties, made for a truly rejuvenating experience. Taiwan has quickly become one of my favorite countries to visit.
