DATE:- 14/12/2017 Camera : Motorola MotoG4+ 16MP I was onboard South Western Railway's [SWR] Krishnarajapuram Loco Shed's [KJM] - ALCO WDG3A 14639R [R=Rebuilt] hauled 16516 - Karwar [KAWR] - Yeshvantpur [YPR] - Express from Udupi [UD] to YPR. Shiradi Ghats lies in the Western Ghats of India between Subrahmanya Road [SBHR] and Sakleshpur [SKLR] towns of the state of Karnataka. This route is also known as Green route. Green Route is a well known segment along the Bangalore and Mangalore railway line in India, within the pristine part of Western Ghat mountain ranges often called the trekker's paradise. This is the segment on the railway track from Sakaleshpura (altitude 906 m MSL) to the Kukke Subramanya (altitude 120 m MSL) Road station. This stretch of the track with length about 52 km has around 57 tunnels and 109 bridges with length varying from few metres to 0.75 km and height varying from few metres to 200 meters. There is a Permanent Speed Restriction [PSR] of 30kmph in this ghat section. Train takes around 2 hours to cover this ghat section. This ghat is one of the most dangerous ghats of railways. Gooty [GY] WDG4 twins 12317 & 12236 hauled freight at some crossing station in Shiradi Ghats 06. Hubli [UBL] WDG4 with Freight at Sakleshpur Station 07.
