📍Tuscaloosa, Alabama 🇺🇸 We came back to Tuscaloosa to see what this iconic college town feels like without the roar of a game day. Memories from that wild Third Saturday of October against Tennessee flashed through our minds, but today the streets were calm, collected, quietly proud. Breakfast meant one thing: Rama Jama’s. A proper Alabama working-class joint, steeped in Crimson Tide history. The Conecuh sausage was non-negotiable. Later, we met Brady, a fifth-year tuba player in the Million Dollar Band. Despite having an exam to get to, he stopped to talk about all things Alabama, and later invited us to watch band practice. Then there was Nick from Birmingham, a Brit who followed love across the pond for a girl from Mobile. Stories like his always hit home. We took a drive out to Crown Point, where Coach DeBoer lives. It’s a side of Alabama few outsiders ever see. Wealthy Alabama, where the American Dream stands tall in red brick and white columns, echoing within earshot of Bryant-Denny Stadium. Back in town, the Million Dollar Band practice turned into something special. Our new friends spoke to the director, and suddenly we were up on the conductor’s tower watching from above. We met viewers, took selfies, chanted, and soaked in the adrenaline. Dinner was Dreamland BBQ on Skyland. No frills, no fancy, just the juiciest, sauciest ribs you’ll ever eat. A “love you and leave you” kind of service. Perfect. The night ended on The Strip. Slippery cocktails, a Yellow Hammer at Gallettes, and $2 pints at Innisfree Irish Pub that might just be the cheapest beer I’ve ever seen anywhere in the world. This is everyday Tuscaloosa: no big game, no occasion, just students, staff, and locals living quietly in the shadow of Bryant-Denny, waiting for the next SEC Saturday. 👨🏻💻 Give us a follow on your favorite social media: / jackaynsleytravel / jackaynsleytravel & / paigeaynsleytravel / jackaynsleytravel & / paigeaynsleytravel 👋🏼 Support us!
