Naso – ‘Lift Up’ Numbers 4:21-7:89 In this week’s parsha, Moses completes the counting, or ‘lifting up’ of Israel, counting Levi separately from the rest of the tribes and with the distinction from the census of the previous parsha in that it is the men between the ages of 30 and 50 (the age range for the Levitical service of the tabernacle) that would fulfil the work of transporting the tabernacle. Following this are the details of the laws pertaining to the treatment of wives who are suspected to have been adulterous and unfaithful to their husbands. Here in particular, we see important links between the outcomes of these statutes and the crucifixion of Yeshua HaMeshiach. Next, the laws of the Nazirite vow are given, those individuals, man or woman, who would dedicate themselves in service to God for a specific period of time, in which they would grow their hair long, not eat fruit of the vine or drink wine and avoid defilement through contact with a dead body. After this period of service they would cut their hair as an offering to Yah, which would be placed on the altar. Aaron and his sons, the descendants of whom would be the designated priests for Israel, are taught how to bless the people of Israel. These verses are now known as the ‘Aaronic blessing’ and this is perhaps one of the most well-known and loved passages in the Torah. Finally, the offerings brought by the leaders of the twelve tribes to inaugurate the altar are detailed, each offering identical and brought by each tribe individually across twelve separate days. ******* Find us on social media: Facebook - / almondhousefellowship Instagram - / almondhousefellowship Contact - almondhousefellowship@gmail.com If you would like to contribute or tithe to our ministry and fellowship, please follow this link: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/almon...
