The Tale of the Golden Rooster. USSR. Russia. 1967. A.S.Pushkin. Cartoon. Сказка о золотом петушке. СССР. Россия. 1967. А.С.Пушкин. I present to your attention an extraordinary cartoon in artistic expression and music "The Tale of the Golden Cockerel/rooster" from the outstanding master of animation Alexandra Snezhko-Blotskaya, the author of the most diverse masterpieces of Russian animation. Soviet cartoons were mostly one-off, authorial products. In "The Tale of the Golden Cockerel" the abundance of artistic styles and manners is impressive. The cartoon was created in a unique visual key - something from the paintings of Bilibin, from Ilya Glazunov. The backgrounds, you can see, resemble the scenery for "Andrei Rublev". In the 60s, interest in ancient Russian history, icon painting awakened, and pictorial motifs in the spirit of ancient Rus' were relevant. The cartoon is superbly stylized, to match the image is an excellent soundtrack, mixing the motifs of Rimsky-Korsakov and the melodies of the 60s. And, of course, Pushkin's brilliant text voiced by wonderful actors. I recommend "The Tale of the Golden Cockerel" to all ages. Adults will get aesthetic pleasure, children will get acquainted with a wonderful alternative to computer animation and Disney style.
