Patchings Art Fest is the largest (and possibly the only) practical art festival of its kind in the UK. It's been going for 31 years and brings together art materials, artisans and artists. All the big art materials manufacturers are there along with wall to wall artists, either watching and learning or teaching and doing. This was my first time at the festival, so I thought I would give you a quick scoot around. If you get the chance to go next year, grab it! I managed to speak with ProArte about their new Black Sable range of brushes, Jackman's Art about their crystalline watercolour and what's coming next (liquid charcoal and acrylic inks, apparently), also St Cuthbert's Mill about Millford paper and also Two Rivers Mill about their paper. Along the way I did various demonstrations with the lovely folk from Painters Online (the publishers of The Artist and The Leisure Painter magazines). I used Rosa Watercolours, Hahnemuhle papers, Wallace Seymour Watercolours and Melanie Cambridge brushes - all these were new to me. If you want to try some of the materials mentioned, do head to Jackson’s Art, which ships worldwide: https://tidd.ly/4fcgDmU (affiliate link - won’t cost you, but gives me a small commission) A few of the brands mentioned have YouTube channels: @PaintersOnlineVideo @jackmansartmaterials @Hahnemuehle @patchingsart2026 @melaniecambridgefineart5754 If you want to see the techniques I demonstrated please take a look here: Animal eyes in watercolour: • Painting animal eyes in watercolour Watercolour bookmarks: • How to make watercolour bookmarks - little... The TALP exhibition continues until 11 August 2024 at Patchings. Every like and comment tells YouTube to show this to more people, so please jump in and share with your creative friends. If you really, really like this content and want to support me you can donate at Kofi. I have just set it up at: https://ko-fi.com/lizchadertonartist Every week I share a tip, trick or technique I wish I had known when I started painting, so if you enjoyed this please like, comment and subscribe.
