🌱 Our First RAM Plot — Newlands Farm, Upper Kaleya Farming Block 🌳🐑🐓 Welcome to the very first RAM (Redeeming Agriculture through Management) Plot, a living demonstration of what happens when we blend the best regenerative systems into one powerful, integrated design. This plot is a mashup of silvopasture, syntropic agroforestry, cover cropping, pasture cropping, and intensive managed grazing—all working together to restore soil, build fertility, and produce food in abundance. 🌿✨ 🌳 Tree Rows Every 10 Meters — Perennials + Biomass Across the field we’ve planted perennial tree crops interspersed with fast-growing biomass species every 10 meters. These rows form the backbone of our syntropic design: Deep-rooting perennials bring minerals up from the subsoil 🧲 Biomass trees provide constant mulch and organic matter 🍃 Shade, shelter, and future fodder integrate seamlessly with grazing animals 🐑 🚜 Irrigated, Intensively-Grazed Alleys Between each tree row are wide irrigated alleys, intentionally managed as high-energy pasture. Here, sheep and chickens rotate through in tight, fast-moving mobs: Hooves + manure = natural soil tillage and fertilisation 💩🌾 High-density impact boosts soil biology and water infiltration 💧 Rapid regrowth creates a resilient, productive pasture system 🌱⚡ This is regenerative grazing meeting agroforestry, right where the biology of the soil responds most dramatically. 🌾 Cover Cropping & Pasture Cropping We layer in diverse cover crops—warm- and cool-season mixes—that feed soil microbiology and extend the grazing window. Between tree rows, we’re establishing pasture-cropping, allowing annuals and perennials to coexist instead of compete: Living roots year-round keep carbon cycling 🔄 Multi-species diversity suppresses weeds and pests naturally 🐞🚫 Fodder quality improves for both sheep and chickens 🐑🐓🌿 🔄 A System Designed for Regeneration This RAM plot isn’t just a farm field—it’s a regenerative engine designed to: Build soil organic matter Increase biodiversity Reduce external inputs Multiply food production Strengthen the whole farm ecosystem And ultimately… to show what’s possible when we steward land the way God designed it to function—diverse, abundant, and alive 🌍🙏 #Silvopasture #RegenerativeGrazing #MobGrazing #HolisticGrazing #PastureCropping #KissTheGround #GabeBrown #JoelSalatin #MarkShepard #RAM #Zambia #africanfarming
