Today's video covers three exercises that can help reduce pain associated with tibialis posterior tendonitis or tendinopathy. Tibialis posterior is a relatively small muscle that runs along the inside of the lower leg. This muscle acts to invert and plantarflex the ankle and helps support the medial arch of the foot. Dysfunction of the tibialis posterior tendon can cause pain along the inside of the lower leg and be one cause of posterior shin splints. More severe injuries of tibialis posterior can result in a gradual collapse of the arch of the foot. If you have pain in this region, the resistance training exercises shown here can work to increase muscle strength and tendon capacity and decrease pain. Give them a try and let me know if you have any questions. *Make sure to checkout my new pain & injury rehab book.
