In this dharma talk, given at Green Gulch Farm, Sokaku Kathie Fischer examines the Xin Xin Ming (Faith in Mind, or Trusting the Mind), a text by the third Chinese Chan (Zen) ancestor, Jianzhi Sengcan. Xin Xin Ming is about practicing with mind. It's about the habits and tendencies of the mind. As we know, picking and choosing is something we do all day long. We cannot avoid picking and choosing. So, what is it in our practice, in the picking and choosing, that is extra? It's choosing with the thought: I'm going to pick the right thing instead of the wrong thing. It's passing judgment about what I'm picking and what I'm not picking and then I pass judgment on who is picking the wrong thing and who else is in my camp, also picking the right thing. It just goes to our human dilemma. Recorded on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Trusting the Mind (Xin Xin Ming) in Zen Roots by Red Pine: https://store.sfzc.org/product/zen-ro...
