I'm reviewing the CFR Călători First Class Sleeper Carriage (Vagon de Dormit) to see if it's the best way to travel across Romania. From the nostalgic vibes of the Gara de Nord to the breathtaking sunrise in Baia Mare, this is a full tour of one of Romania's most iconic train routes. Technical details for enthusiasts: The sleeper car in this video is a former German WLABmh (Hansa type 174/175). These iconic carriages were brought from Germany and are still appreciated for their robust build and classic comfort on the Romanian rail network. Compartmentation: It has 11 compartments for passengers, plus one for the carriage attendant. Seats: It offers a total of 33 seats. Depending on the sales regime, a compartment can be used in "Single" (1 bed), "Double" (2 beds) or "Tourist" (3 beds) regime. Amenities: Includes a washbasin in each compartment, a sound system and 230V sockets. The carriage is also equipped with a shower cabin at one of the ends. Maximum speed: Although the series is capable of 160 km/h, many units in this series are limited or authorized for 140 km/h (standard for our lines). Bogies: It uses Minden-Deutz type bogies, recognized for their smooth running, ideal for sleeping carriages. Brake: The braking system is KE-GPR (Knorr fast acting high power mode).
