One of my favorite things to do is agriscape. To me, finding a way to incorporate the edible with the beautiful is the ultimate test of a gardener. Either for me, the pollinators, or beauty’s ability to inspire, everything serves a purpose. Here I am planting the ‘Little Miss Figgy’, a dwarf fig tree. This is my second time to grow this variety and it truly is dwarf. If you look closely you can see there are actual figs on the tree. I have grouped together blueberries, raspberries, olives, and figs, while attempting to bring winter annuals around them for visual interest. It should prove to create a truly beauty container display. These are all of course in my favorite kind of container, a self-watering variety. These are by Crescent Gardens, in their TruDrop series. These containers are an investment, but boy are they worth every penny! In Zone 8A with scorching summers, these are a game changer. When fruits arrive, these plants will need more water, and this system of watering from beneath has proven to be very successfully with just about everything I put in them. No I’m not sponsored; just a gardener who has put these to the test.
